"Dance is architecture in motion."
He dances, he takes flight, he turns, he steals a second of weightlessness, excelling in his art and captivating all who watch. Hugo Marchand, étoile dancer at the Paris Opera since 2017, embodies this "architecture in motion" and the audacity, artistic sensibility and technical mastery we hold as our own values.
Between dance and horology, the kinship is immediate. Both demand absolute discipline, years of invisible work to reach a single instant of grace, that fraction of a second in which the gesture appears spontaneous, when in truth it is the fruit of meticulous precision. An étoile dancer counts his footing the way a watchmaker counts oscillations: to the tenth of a second, until the effort disappears behind the fluidity of the movement.
It was this same exacting standard that Trilobe wished to celebrate in choosing Hugo Marchand as ambassador for its launch evening, on 17 December 2018, at the Musée des Arts et Métiers in Paris. In this space steeped in history, home to some of France's greatest mechanical inventions, his presence gave shape to our vision: a watchmaking that, like dance, transforms technical rigour into pure emotion.
We were deeply honoured to welcome Hugo Marchand, as talented as he is passionate, as Trilobe's ambassador for this launch, an evening during which time itself seemed, for a moment, to stand still.
