Trilobe wins the prize "Petite Aiguille" at the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie in Geneva

“Petite Aiguille” for a watch with no hands

After being nominated for three consecutive years for the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève, our watch “Nuit Fantastique Dune” won on November 10, 2022. The jury rewarded Trilobe’s creative and daring spirit with the “Petite Aiguille” prize for a watch without hands, but with confidence. Offering an intuitive reading of the time, our “Nuit Fantastique” is a proud representative of our House: “Hands less but with a sprinkle of magic”. Classic in its refinement, offbeat and contemporary, with a disruptive and singular reading of the time. This prize is certainly an emblematic stage of maturity for Trilobe.

A look back at our first trilogy

We are proud to receive this award, at the dawn of our 4th year. On December 17, 2018, Gautier Massonneau launched, at the Museum of Arts and Crafts in Paris, the inaugural series “Les Matinaux”, after three years of research & development. By doing so, he turned the traditional world of Swiss watchmaking upside down with eccentrically designed automatic watches.

After Les Matinaux, the Nuit Fantastique and Une Folle Journée complete the French trilogy. With the same technical and aesthetic signature. Between minimalism and eccentric use of hours, minutes and seconds. Morning, Noon and Evenings, these three collections are also completed by a personalized edition, “Secret”, and based on the signature automatic movement, the X-Centric Trilobe calibre.

Dubai Watch Week
A successful participation for Trilobe

Trilobe is delighted to have taken part in the 5th edition of Dubai Watch Week, which gathered around 50 watch brands, from 24 to 28 November. The DWW was a great opportunity for the brand to raise its profile internationally among worldwide aficionados and actors of the industry who came to assist to this major event. On this occasion, Trilobe was also able to interact with its peers in a relaxed and open environment.

Founded by Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons in 2015, Dubai Watch Week, which takes place every two years, is the greatest non-commercial event in the watchmaking industry. The aim of the DWW is very clear : “We’re not here to sell, we’re here to educate and to promote watchmaking. Our goal is to create an unparalleled educational, experiential and networking event.” These are the words of Hind and Mohammed Seddiqi during their opening speech on November 24.

Thus, this event is a golden opportunity for the brands to present their novelties, whether they are destined for the local or global market, and to strengthen their image with a diverse audience.

In the purpose of enlightening participants, developing their knowledge and expanding their thinking on the watchmaking topic, the 2021 edition of Dubai Watch Week offered a rich and diverse program including discussion panels, masterclass and workshops.

The hosts of DWW also took the opportunity to pay a tribute to the United Arab Emirates’ 50th anniversary by presenting a special collection with exceptional pieces in limited edition.

High point of the watchmaking industry in 2021, Dubai Watch Week enabled the industry actors to gather altogether and celebrate the watchmaking expertise for a week, a long awaited moment after months of industry paralysis because of the pandemic.

Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève 2021 Preselection

15 September 2021 / Event

Trilobe preselected to the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève 2021

The academy of the 21st Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix (GPHG) has given its verdict and Trilobe is very pleased to announce its preselection in the “Petite Aiguille”* category, for the third consecutive year.

“Petite Aiguille”* for a watch without hands, a happy coincidence or a bold move from the jury? This wink results undoubtedly from the magic of a watch liberating time, thus surprising us at first glance through an assumed step aside.

This year, the new Nuit Fantastique (Fantastic night) collection is the one that caught the attention of the GPHG Academy. The design of this creation plays on perceptions. The elegant black grained dial is a real technical challenge. It is made up of four parts, three of which are in permanent rotation : the ring for hours; the minutes wheel that appears within an aperture; the seconds wheel alternating between a centre in clous de Paris and an azured ring. The intertwining of the minutes and seconds gives a glimpse of the infinite and time that goes on endlessly, within a satin-finished and polished in-dial bezel.

Designed and developed in the singular spirit of the brand, the Nuit Fantastique watch is equipped with the X-Centric calibre, Trilobe’s signature automatic movement with micro-rotor. With a thickness of 5.78mm this movement combines finesse and performance.

Horloge Trilobe par Daniel Buren, La Réciproque, développée à l'occasion de la vente Only Watch 2021

Only Watch Charity Auction 2021

Trilobe by Daniel Buren

for Only Watch 2021

Trilobe is very proud to support once again Only Watch in its 2021 edition. Since the first edition in 2005, Only Watch has come a long way in extending the knowledge of Duchenne muscular dystrophy that affect hundreds of thousands of people.

It is to honour this extraordinarily ambitious project that the Trilobe watchmaking House and the Sculptor Daniel Buren have decided to offer a unique and meaningful collaboration, a singular creation.

« La Réciproque » – Trilobe by Daniel Buren

The reciprocal is the action that subjects perform on each other: two reciprocal forces that materialise into a unique artistic creation. Daniel Buren and Trilobe have fun with this encounter: opposing forms and colours, disturbing the view, questioning the mind. Art and watchmaking oppose and meet each other, in reciprocal forces.

It is from this desire for reciprocity that the Trilobe by Daniel Buren project was born: to combine a young watchmaking House with one of the most recognised Artist on the international scene. Around a scarlet beating heart, designed as the scarlet beating heart of the work, imagine a duality between the technicality of the watchmaker and the unique proposal of the Artist in an immediate dialogue with the «X-Centricity» of Trilobe. It is, above all, the exhilarating prospect to realise a unique artwork to serve a great cause.

The Trilobe clock by Daniel Buren is a singular work of art in which the eccentric vision of the Artist cannot be understood without the technical expertise of the Watchmaker. It also remains faithful to the tradition of excellence in watchmaking and offers us the immutable and inimitable ticking of the great clocks.

Between patience and determination, the Trilobe project by Daniel Buren is a true reciprocal.

Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève 2020 Preselection

15 September 2020 / Event

Trilobe preselected at the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève 2020

Trilobe is proud to announce, for the second consecutive year, its preselection to the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG 2020) in the category “Petite Aiguille”.

« Hands less but with a sprinkle of magic »

The « Petite Aiguille » category is restricted to watches whose public price lies between 4’000CHF and 10’000CHF. The nomination in this category is a wink to Trilobe’s motto : “Hands less but with a sprinkle of magic”

« My soul has its secret, my watch has its story »

The nominated Trilobe watch is the watch “Les Matinaux Secret”, an emblematic model of the brand officially launched  in October 2019. This latest edition of “Les Matinaux” collection is an invitation to immortalize a precious moment in a poetic way. Each dial is personalized and made bespoke: a map of the sky with the stars from the day, time and place that are dear to you, thus, making each watch a unique piece. The starry sky is a freeze frame for a selected point in life: a delicate way of entrusting its receiver with a powerful message of love, a happy memory, a life project, an open secret, for an intimate creation.

At nightfall, the drawn stars come to life and light in order to illuminate the chosen moment, thus suspending the passage of time. A new invitation to free oneself from time.

This watch with a starry sky was the initial project of Gautier Massonneau, Trilobe’s founder. Facing such technical complexities, this project was developed in parallel with “Les Matinaux” collection. It took more than two years of R&D to implement the 3D growth of superluminova for the dial, a first in the watchmaking world, and to reach the result with a personalized watch in an intimate and poetic way.

Each Secret watch is developed with our new automatic integrated movement, the X-Centric calibre. Mirror of the brand identity, this calibre enhances the architectural geometry of this piece : a contemporary distinction with a refined design.

This year, the 84 watches nominated by the GPHG 2020 jury will participate in a travelling exhibition on the Swiss territory:

  • Chaux-de-Fonds at the International Watchmaking Museum (MIH), on 14-18 October
  • Zürich at Bucherer, on 20-22 October
  • Bern, at Bellevue hotel, on 23-25 October
  • Geneva, from 30th October to 15th November

In Geneva, the watch will take up residence in the palatine rooms of the city’s largest museum, the Museum of Art and History (MAH), where for the past three years the GPHG has been organizing a multi-faceted exhibition dedicated to the art and culture of watchmaking.

These exhibitions will be an opportunity for Trilobe to meet collectors and an audience of fine watchmaking enthusiasts.

The final winners will be announced on November 12 at the awards ceremony of this 20th Grand Prix d’Horlogerie.
