Trilobe is very proud to support once again Only Watch in its 2021 edition. Since the first edition in 2005, Only Watch has come a long way in extending the knowledge of Duchenne muscular dystrophy that affect hundreds of thousands of people.

It is to honour this extraordinarily ambitious project that the Trilobe watchmaking House and the Sculptor Daniel Buren have decided to offer a unique and meaningful collaboration, a singular creation.

« La Réciproque » – Trilobe by Daniel Buren

The reciprocal is the action that subjects perform on each other: two reciprocal forces that materialise into a unique artistic creation. Daniel Buren and Trilobe have fun with this encounter: opposing forms and colours, disturbing the view, questioning the mind. Art and watchmaking oppose and meet each other, in reciprocal forces.

It is from this desire for reciprocity that the Trilobe by Daniel Buren project was born: to combine a young watchmaking House with one of the most recognised Artist on the international scene. Around a scarlet beating heart, designed as the scarlet beating heart of the work, imagine a duality between the technicality of the watchmaker and the unique proposal of the Artist in an immediate dialogue with the «X-Centricity» of Trilobe. It is, above all, the exhilarating prospect to realise a unique artwork to serve a great cause.

The Trilobe clock by Daniel Buren is a singular work of art in which the eccentric vision of the Artist cannot be understood without the technical expertise of the Watchmaker. It also remains faithful to the tradition of excellence in watchmaking and offers us the immutable and inimitable ticking of the great clocks.

Between patience and determination, the Trilobe project by Daniel Buren is a true reciprocal.

“Look, Fans! No Hands!”

In her article, Ming Liu salutes innovative designers who are reinventing the way time is read. Among these designers, the author cites Trilobe, explaining that “abandoning hands altogether is becoming increasingly popular, giving watchmaking and the art of telling time a new – and cerebral – look.”

Trilobe was born from a desire to differentiate itself: the proposal of a unique and excellent watch that does not exceed 10,000 euros. Founded in 2019, the House chose the name Trilobe in reference to a timeless and universal architectural motif, and made it its emblem by using it as a time indicator on its watches.

After the collection “Les Matinaux”, Trilobe presented a new model in early April: Nuit Fantastique. The latter retains the hour ring but the minutes appear in an aperture, and the seconds wheel alternates between a centre in clous de Paris and an azure ring.

Trilobe’s vision of luxury is that of taking time, freeing it and giving it value by reversing the reference point for reading the time. The hands are fixed and it is time that becomes mobile.

In this New York Times article, Ming Liu salutes the audacity of this new watchmaking trend of which Trilobe is a part, alongside Ressence, Eone, Bulgari, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, and Rado.

Nuit Fantastique was created An evening of lockdown, in an environment full of shackles, rules and prohibitions. Trilobe’s new creative passion, timeless and mysterious, invites you to escape, to free time and space.

Contemporary and classic, «Nuit Fantastique» is a plunge into the deconstructivism called «New Modern Architecture». An architecture that invites to rethink freely: new geometries, atypical forms, movement and dynamism! This unconventional architecture shakes up what we know, disturbs our way of conceiving forms and their functions. It is a new movement that advocates the go beyond the traditional patterns.

The design of this creation favours minimalism and plays with perceptions.
The elegant, grained dial is a real technical challenge, underlying the watch elegance.
It defies symmetrical shapes and is made up of four parts, three of which are in permanent rotation. Raw and uncluttered, this unstructured dial opens three distinct windows: the largest ring for the hours; the minutes wheel that appears within an aperture and the seconds wheel, which alternates between a “Clous de Paris” centre and an azured ring.

The intertwining of the minutes and seconds gives a glimpse of the infinite and the time that goes on endlessly, within a satin-finished and polished in-dial bezel. A new touch of universality and timelessness that is part of this time set in motion, always counterclockwise, an X-Centric conception of watchmaking dear to Trilobe.

Nuit Fantastique is available in silver, black, night blue and «Secret». With a sober and elegant 7 pieces steel case and a resistant sapphire crystal, this creation unveils a new interpretation of the passage of time by Trilobe, while remaining faithful to the X-Centric movement that is the signature of our House.

Trilobe get the incredible opportunity to participate in Watches and Wonders Geneva 2021. It is a great honour to exchange with the greatest houses that have forged the excellence of watchmaking know-how. This 100% digital trade show is placed under the aegis of union and openness, and for Trilobe, launched on December 17, 2018, this represents a very beautiful new adventure.

For ten days, watchmaking worldwide will be in the spotlight for this major event in the industry calendar, where the brands take the stage and reveal their latest products for 2021. It’s all set so that wherever in the world they are, whatever the platform, visitors could enjoy the Watches and Wonders experience !
